Spintellect is Branching Out!
Spintellect started as an idea for a distributed operating system that would allow users to donate computer time, similar to the @home projects, and in return, get computing time on the world’s largest computing cluster. This project is still floating around as an idea for when I, or anyone else, has time to implement it, but never really got off the ground, and may just stay as a crazy idea forever.
This, however, made me realize that there needs to be a place for people to come together and share their crazy, wild ideas, and to see other people’s crazy ideas, and have a chance to bring people together to work on them. I’ve had a lot of ideas in the past, and even though a lot of them were really off the wall, that’s not what kept them from getting off the ground. The reason most of my ideas haven’t been tried out is simply that I haven’t been able to find the right people to help out with them. Enter Spintellect. Spintellect aims to give bright thinkers from around the world a common place to share and discuss ideas, and to collaborate on the ones that interest them. Think of it as a worldwide, open think tank.
When even a few good heads get together on something, the results can be spectacular, so what will happen when lots of good heads get together on a crazy project?
Watch for Spintellect to launch soon, complete with ways for you to submit ideas, to review and comment on others’ ideas, and to take up projects and collaborate on them.
